No fires on Maplewood - just one hot rockin' block party!! It was our neighbors, Garth and Karen's annual Solstice Party. My friend Mark is the drummer in a blues band - "The Upstage Crew" they came to play and they were great! They have a harmonica player that'll knock your socks off! (that's why we wore sandals). We had pork, totems, ice cream, lawn art, kids, fire trucks, bikes, cop cars and Shawn's fire baton (a little known talent) - if we had any more stuff it would have been overwhelming! Click on "My Pics" on the right to see more photos...
keep it in the 'hood Cats!

I tell ya, the fun never stops in EGR. Are you sure the fire truck didn't show up to put an end to the fire baton act?
Now tell me, o great blogmaster guru, how come when I click "My Pics" on your blog page, I get some of the pictures that I have taken or posted in the past? As the kids would say, "What's up with that?"
I don't know(?) when I click it it goes to my Picasa album...Hmmmm
when I click your link it goes to MY album!!! You must have it set to picasa and not your public album or something. Weird.
Great pics!!! Looks like a good time!
Got it fixed now! I had "home" as an address and not "jrathbun". Mum caught it!!!
Boy that was some blow out! Who was the woodcarver? Was that his bike? Anyway, they were great, and the pork looked awesome. That party was pretty similar to a Keys Cuban fiesta, except for the baton twirler and fire engines.
What a great neighborhood you've got there. Was that Matt riding a pig? Next year,. . pig races? You guys are in the right place. Did Shawn really do the fire baton? YAHOO~!
Shawn is an awesome fire batoner! It is a death defying act that we get to see only once (maybe 2 times) a year!
The wood carver is Bearclaw Jack. I can truely say I have seen him grow as an artisan...His work stated pretty basic, but he has really upped his game. everything is for sale! DO woul need a totem in The Cay?
Can't wait to bring the skyhook for the artwork next year:)
we're going to take you up on that offer! Some one at the party was about to give me a zip line. I thought of the crane and though it would be perfect! But then he told me it only had a 100 pound capacity. If I couldn't use it I told him to forget it!
